Drogheda, November 24, 2023 – The historic town of Drogheda is once again set to host the much-anticipated Drogheda Traditional Music & Singing Weekend, celebrating its 22nd anniversary. Scheduled from November 24 to November 26, 2023, the festival, in association with Droichead Arts Centre, promises a vibrant showcase of traditional Irish music and culture.

The festival kicks off on Friday, November 24 at 8.00 pm at the Droichead Arts Centre, marking the beginning of a weekend filled with rich cultural experiences. This year’s edition promises an array of events spread across various locations in Drogheda, including cafes, restaurants, bars, and other venues, turning the town into a lively hub of traditional music and singing.

Attendees can look forward to a diverse program featuring singing concerts, insightful talks, lively pub sessions, and a traditional céilí. These events are designed to cater to both aficionados of Irish traditional music and newcomers to the genre, offering something for everyone.

Long known as Gerry ‘Fiddle’ O’Connor, this is one fiddler whose pulse is quickened by the sheer delight in the tunes. As a fourth-generation fiddle player, he knows the value of the shared tune. He has travelled the world over the past 40 years in a solo capacity and with various groups including Skylark and Lá Lugh. He regularly appears at the festival both as a performer and a teacher

This concert is in honour of Caitlin Bean ui Cairbre who was instrumental in promoting the traditional music culture in Drogheda. Featuring Sundays Gate Quartet, Edel Fox and Niall Byrne

Singing session open to all with special guests Alish and Rosaleen Hanna and a tribute to Geordie Hanna, a true great of Irish traditional singing

Venue: O’Raghallaighs, North Rd.
All roads lead to O’Raghallaighs on the North Road at 3pm on Sunday 26th of November for an afternoon of music and dance and a traditional céilí with music from the reknowned céilí band ‘Rise the Dust’.
