Joueur de flûte traversière irlandaise, whistle et low whistle, Mike McGoldrick est né à Manchester en 1971. Il a joué au sein de plusieurs ensembles de musique traditionnelle contemporaine, dont Afro-Celt Sound System, Lunasa et Flook (dont il a été membre fondateur). Il a un style de jeu très fluide et virtuose et un son puissant et chaleureux.
