En musique traditionnelle irlandaise, le jig est le type de morceau le plus courant après le reel.

The jig is the most common dance tune after the reel. It is quite fast and in 6/8 time. Many jigs are of Irish origin, unlike reels which can often be Scottish. They date from the 18th-19th centuries.
The tunes are usually in 8-bar parts, with the simple structure AABB
