Jimmy McGettrick (1909-98) was a tin whistle player from Ballymote in Co Sligo. He learnt his first tune at 15 from a neighbour called Matt Molloy (uncle of flute player Matt Molloy). He played with fiddlers Willie and John Joe Coleman and was one of Matt Molloy’s “musical touchstones”.

The tune McGettrick’s is associated with him.
