UCC Tradfest 2012, Cork

The Cork Tradfest is an Irish music festival organised by the Irish Traditional Music Society at University College, Cork. The event takes place in several venues throughout the city, and is for both students of the University and the general public. This year's event is from Wednesday 8th February until Saturday 11th and includes concerts, céilis, sessions and the national Battle of the Trad Bands competition.

Performers this year include Mary Mitchell, Connie O'Connell, Karl Nesbitt & Eileen de Paor, and headliner Mairtin O'Connor with Cathal Hayden and Seamie O'Dowd. There will be sessions in An Spailpín Fánac, The Corner House, An Bodhrán, Sin é, The Ovens Tavern and Counihans.

Wednesday 8th February

Free Lunchtime Concert: Mary Mitchell, Connie O'Connell, Karl Nesbitt & Eileen de Paor.
A free concert in the quiet surroundings of An Seomra Caidreamh with some of the stalwarts of the music tradition. It promises to be a highly enjoyable musical treat in the heart of the University.

Launch of TradFest 2012

UCC’s national Battle of the Trad Bands competition. This competition is open to bands from all over the country. A great night of music from some of the newest bands on the Traditional Music Scene is guaranteed.

Prizes: €600 and Support Act for Main Gig on Saturday
