Scoil Cheoil an Earraigh is a 5-day Irish traditional music school held in Ballyferriter on the Dingle peninsula, and includes instrumental, singing and dancing workshops, concerts and sessions, and Irish language activities. This year's event takes place from February 15th to 19th 2012.
The event gives participants the chance to experience local music and song from the Kerry region, and also to experience the Irish language in the heart of the Kerry gaeltacht, with Irish conversation classes and even Scots Gaelic. Other activities include sean-nos singing and dance workshops, recitals, a students' concert and a guided walk of the area.
The musical style is not confined to the Kerry area alone, as musicians have been invited from all over the country to participate in the event. This year's lineup includes Seán and Cian Talty, the Campbells from Donegal, Jackie Daly and Matt Cranitch, Claire Keville, Cathal McConnell, Nell Ní Chróinín and many more.
