In a career that lasted only 5 years, from 1974 to 1979 The Bothy Band became one of the most influential Irish music groups of the 20th century. Their music was dynamic and vibrant, with a strong rhythmic base of guitar/bouzouki, and set the standard for traditional groups in later years.
