Born in London of parents from Co. Sligo, Kevin Burke started playing fiddle at the age of 8. He developed a virtuosic playing style influenced by that of Sligo. He replaced Tommy Peoples in The Bothy Band, and recorded two albums with Michael O'Domhnaill.

He plays with the groups Patrick Street and Celtic Fiddle Festival, and his own group Open House that mixes influences from other genres such as Appalacian or Eastern European music. He lives in Portland, Oregon.
